Chargers

Chargers for the three big 18V and 20V platforms, from a single-bay 3A fast charger to a six-port station that fills a whole crew's packs overnight. Bay counts run from one to six, and output from 3A up to 12A on the four-port Makita unit.

Amp rating is the number that matters. A 3A charger brings a 5.0Ah pack to full in roughly two hours; the 1.5A unit that ships in a kit takes most of an afternoon. If you run several brands, a multi-port station beats three separate docks on bench space. If you run one brand, a faster single charger usually makes more sense than more bays, because you rarely need four packs full at once.

The six-port multi-brand station is the shop answer, and the DCB112 3A fast charger covers DeWalt 12V and 20V. Our charger comparison lists output, bay count and price side by side. Charge time by capacity gives the arithmetic, and if a charger has gone dark, the reset sequence recovers most latched faults.
